Scholarships
Scholarship to further education, Mentoring for intellectual development, and acknowledging the best among our community are all part of Vocational Service.
Our club awards seven $1,000 scholarships annually via our Chesapeake Outstanding Student program. This includes a program of speeches by each of the Chesapeake High School’s most outstanding students and the naming of the Most Outstanding Student by our Scholarship Committee.
Our club’s Strive program provides monthly mentoring opportunities to Seniors at Indian River High School who enroll in our program. Those students posting the greatest increases in their GPA earn scholarships from $250 to $1,000 at the end of their senior year.
Annually, our club awards the Chesapeake First Citizen prize to that individual who has exemplified a life of service above self to our community. These recipients are a “Who’s Who” of Chesapeake and the region.
The program is administered by our Co-Chairs, Retired Super intendent’s Fred Bateman and Randolph Nichols. STRIVE is Chaired by John Henry Martin.
