On Monday December 16th we delivered 404 winter coats to elementary school children in Chesapeake and on Wednesday we distributed many thousands of dollars to local non-profits.
On October 12th Chesapeake Rotary held its 10th annual Wine Festival. This week we distributed the funds raised at the event.

Our "Coats for Kids" program in its 29th year of service delivered 404 winter coats to children in need that attend seven Title One elementary schools. Mr. Gardner King, program chair, said "We completed delivery in time for Christmas break. We work through the guidance counselor at each of the seven schools"

Mrs. Avelyn Chambers (who attended our meeting on Wednesday 12/18) is the guidance counselor at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School shared some of the history of our coat project "it has benefitted thousands of families in the 29 years. The families and us at the schools are so thankful to Rotary for all you do"

During our 12/18 meeting which was attended by Mayor Rick West, President Grady Palmer and Scott Danner, chair of the Wine Festival presented checks to the following local non-profits
